Elgin Mills Campus
Students learning at the Elgin Mills Campus recognize that the College campus has been designed specifically to support their learning in all areas. At an age when many adolescents are questioning their relationship with their school, TMS students see our facility as an extension of the opportunities they have been given to make the most of their learning and respond with enthusiasm and care. This TMS spirit is encouraged by the facility in many ways. An oversized student common room, just inside the main entrance, acts as the main gathering place for students during a stage of life where social relationships are very important. As a shared public space, where students from grade 7 to 12 come for meals, events, group work and simply just to be together, the student commons continues to enhance the development of close bonds and ties that mean so much to each of us at TMS.
The facility supports all aspects of our whole student educational program with bright, well organized and generously sized classrooms which serve as inviting spaces for teaching and learning. Students make good use of their own laptop computers as tools for learning in our reliable wireless environment. Two well-equipped science labs with attached preparation rooms ensure that science is learned in a hands-on fashion. The Library serves as a true learning centre supporting traditional and technological research. It will also serve to promote a love of literature and reading among all students as well. A dedicated music room with two attached practice rooms and a dedicated art room with great light and storage facilities promote excellence in each student's artistic endeavours. A full size double gym and new athletic playing field encourage the development of healthy bodies, athletic competition and lifelong student recreational activities as a compliment to our academic and artistic spaces. Overall, the campus provides a safe and secure park-like setting. As the College student body grows, our plans for a second and third phase will add classroom space in a manner that is cost and time effective.
