Parents

TMS Parents are Terrific Partners in the Home-School Partnership

We foster a strong partnership with parents at TMS as we work together to make each student's educational journey a successful experience. By working with their child's teachers, TMS parents have a strong impact on the success and enjoyment of their child. This means talking about each day, modeling our three ideals, and helping to create an environment at home that assists the child to become independent with regard to organization, homework and involvement in the life of the school.

To this end parents communicate actively with teachers and academic heads to understand the optimal way of interacting with their child at each age and stage.  TMS parents do not hestitate to contact any of our team in person, by telephone, by e-mail or with a note when they have a question or a concern.  At the School we prefer to hear about issues and address concerns immediately and understand that a successful partnership depends on good communication between the family and the school. Being in partnership also means that parents read our weekly, electronic newsletter HeadLines. Distributed every Wednesday throughout the academic year HeadLines is a celebration of student activity and achievement at all levels.  It includes many important, interesting and useful pieces of information regarding what is 'going on' at TMS.

TMS parents are also active members in our community. They play a variety of roles that benefit all of us.  This means being involved within the TMS Parents' Network as a volunteer, joining an advisory committee of the TMS Board, attending the School's family and parent social events, and making charitable donations.  There are many opportunities to get involved with the TMS Parents' Network.  Involved parents strengthen the School for their child and for all of us.  By modeling active participation, parents also teach their child about participation in the adult world and reinforce a strong belief that education is powerful and worth investing in.
