Director of Strategic Communications and Marketing

Purpose
TMS is a unique and extraordinary school, with innovative programs, a history of success, and top tier student achievement. The School has a great story to tell. The Director of Strategic Communications and Marketing will be expected to plan for and realize the marketing and strategic communication needs of the school as determined by the School’s strategic plan, Significance; build a common vision for TMS (messaging, images) and grow TMS’s name in new markets to support our enrolment management and advancement functions. The Director will work with the leadership team, staff and faculty, students, parents and alumni to share the stories of the school internally and externally. This position reports to the Executive Director, Community Development and is a full time non-faculty position that will work at both our Lower and Upper Schools. Given the nature of the position, some evening and weekend work will be required to attend and support TMS events.

Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate needs to be:
  • A strategic thinker and highly skilled communicator with extensive expertise in both digital and traditional media.
  • A professional with superior writing and editing skills and experience in design, social media technology, media relations, website management, data analysis and brand management.
The successful candidate has:
  • Initiative in abundance, demonstrated ability to explore innovative ideas and solutions, and capacity to work independently.
  • A demonstrated grasp of evolving communication channels and trends.
  • The talent to oversee multiple projects with different deadlines and stakeholders.
  • A university degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English or related field.
    • An equivalent combination of training and directly related experience in strategic communications and implementation may be considered.

Experience with and understanding of the culture of an independent school or other educational organizations is an asset.

Student Supervision Attendant - Upper School

Student Supervision Attendant

Reporting to the Office Manager, the Student Supervision Attendant will be responsible for supervising students during the academic year from 3:30 pm – 6:00 pm starting from September 2018 through to June 2019 with a possible renewal for the following September to June academic year.

Qualifications, experience, and attributes:

  • Previous experience working with adolescent youth in a high school setting

University Placement Teacher (Maternity Leave Contract) - Upper School

University Placement Teacher (Maternity Leave Contract)

The successful candidate will work with students, parents and teachers to help students reach their choice of university acceptances. This position will commence late August 2018, with the expected duration of one academic year.

Qualifications, experience, and attributes:

  • University degree
  • Ontario College of Teachers Certification
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in university placement
  • International Baccalaureate (IB) experience an asset

Full-Time Custodian - Lower School

TMS Lower School is inviting applications from motivated, inspiring individuals for a:

Full-time Custodian

Reporting to the Facilities Supervisor, the Custodian will be responsible for day to day housekeeping, traffic control at afternoon “Kiss and Go” area and ongoing preventative maintenance at the Lower School. Duties will include but are not limited to: frequent cleaning and maintenance of washrooms, classrooms, offices and other public areas, conducting nightly security procedures, aid in the set-up/clean-up of school functions and assisting with traffic flow.

The successful candidate will be working with a fantastic group of staff and students who are guided by our TMS Ideals of Respect, Strive, and Make Good Choices.

Qualifications, experience, and attributes:

  • Able to work steady evening weekday shifts from 3:00pm – 11:30pm (summer hours may vary)
  • Previous custodian experience is considered an asset
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Physically able to perform a full range of cleaning duties including the ability to lift 25 lbs. and to stand and walk for long periods of time
  • Experience in heavy duty custodial work (e.g. stripping and waxing floors) is considered an asset
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • CPR and First Aid Training is an asset
  • A current Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check
