Associate Teacher - Upper school

Associate Teacher

The Associate Teacher will be a recent university graduate looking to be mentored by experienced faculty and will help shape the growth of our School for the 2019-2020 academic year. The successful candidates will be fully involved in the life of the school, and manage a range of duties that may include covering classes for absent teachers, assisting learners in our Learning Strategies Department and coaching our extra-curricular programs. This position will commence late August 2019.

Qualifications, experience and attributes:

  • Ontario College of Teachers Certification
  • Intermediate/Senior qualifications for Math, Physical Education, English and/or Learning Strategies
  • Additional Special Education qualifications an asset
  • Coaching experience
  • Commitment to strong student/teacher relationships
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and busy environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in a technologically rich school environment, and skills in Google Applications are considered an asset

Elementary Teacher (One Year Contract)

TMS has a thriving Elementary Montessori Program (Grades 1-6) with a skilled faculty and almost 300 students who achieve extraordinary results. The successful candidate will work with students, parents, and teachers to help students reach their full potential in the Program. This position will commence late August 2019.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing students an educational experience designed to inspire and challenge students to discover the best of who they are and to achieve their full potential
  • Ensuring a welcoming classroom environment in a manner that reflects the TMS commitment to supporting students and their families, and the motto “I am Known”
  • Supporting the growth and development of individual learners through the delivery of the Montessori philosophy
  • Participating actively in faculty and department meetings to plan, review and update the written curriculum
  • Establishing good relationships with teachers, staff and parents across the school community
  • Being an active and positive participant in the extracurricular and community life of the school

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes:

  • Teacher qualifications with Montessori teacher training diploma is required

  • A minimum of one year experience working in a similar capacity with young children
  • Demonstrated passion for working with children in a team environment
  • Strong oral communication skills
  • Previous experience in a reception environment
