TMS Upper School - Athletic Program Information and Updates 2023/2024
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome back to another academic year at the Upper School! As an Athletic Department we are very excited to be returning to a robust Fall Season with a variety of program offerings such as intramurals, fitness, dance, sport training clinics, athletic clubs and our regular competitive CISAA team league play.
Our goal at the Upper School is to ensure that all students have the opportunity to participate in daily physical activities that meet their developmental needs and desired participation level. Whether you are starting off in Grade 7, a new student in Grade 9 or nearing the end of your career at TMS in Grade 12, we aim to have an Athletic Program that is inclusive, fun and engaging for all. We also expect that all students in Grade 7 - 12 participate in at least one athletic activity within the walls of TMS each school year to meet the TMS Upper School Pillar Expectations.
TMS Upper School Athletic Offerings below:
At TMS we believe that our students should be well-rounded and involved in a variety of activities within the arts, athletics, academic and citizenship areas. We ask that you as a parent/guardian support your child in their athletic endeavours and help them with their time management and interpersonal skills, so they can go beyond and truly experience the full breadth of our academic and co-curricular programs.
During Advisory in Week 1, your child will learn more about our programs and will be asked to fill out the “Fall Athletic Declaration Google Form”, where they can sign up for different competitive athletic teams and clubs. They will also learn how to access the “TMS Upper School Athletic Portal” to find team tryouts, practice and game schedules for the upcoming season.
Community Partnerships:
At TMS we are very proud to announce that we have partnered with different elite sport organizations in the community, to help to continue to enhance our long term athlete development model and success within CISAA. These community partners provide expert coaches to attend our competitive team practices on a weekly basis to assist our faculty coaches in providing an enriching experience. They also run “open” training sessions, where they offer clinic style lessons to help to further the development of any student who wishes to learn and grow within that sport.
We encourage parents to also look into the external programs that each of these clubs run in the community, and if your son or daughter is passionate about the sport, it is a great way to propel their development of the game and exposure to the sport. We will continue to advertise opportunities that come up that we feel would be a great fit for our TMS students.
Our Community Sport Partners include and schedule:
- THUNDERCAT Volleyball - Term 1 and Term 2 (TMS GYM)

To properly ensure your son or daughter is prepared for tryouts, we will also be providing access to sport workshops within HPE classes focusing on volleyball, basketball and field hockey, specifically at the Grade 7 or 8 level.
Permission Forms:
At TMS upper school, we only require parents to fill out only 1 “universal” athletic permission google form that will cover your son or daughter’s participation for the entire year on any respective team. We ask that the form below is filled out by all parents who has a son or daughter who is interested in participating in a CISAA team sport by Tuesday, September 12th.
** If your daughter is interested in trying out for JR or SR Girls Field Hockey the permission form will need to be completed by Wednesday, September 6th, so they can travel on the shuttle bus to Crosby Field for tryouts. The bus will depart at 3:45 PM from TMS Campus. Parents are asked to pick up their child at the end of tryout at Crosby Turf Field at 5:00PM.
